New Beginnings

How sweet to wake each morning,.
A new day, a new beginning, oh what wonders will this day bring?

Oh, shout to the Lord for this day and the beauty that it holds
From sunrise to sunset, colors and light and sights and sounds all
miraculous events.

Even when our afflictions are many, our blessings are far more abundant!

How wonderful that we are given new beginnings. We serve a just and
awesome God, who is always right there waiting for us to fall into His
arms of forgiveness and love.

He is sweet and good and blessed is the man who trusts in Him....

My heart is thankful and grateful today for this new day!

The Harvest is near!

As always, I am so amazed by God's goodness....

This time last year, we were already into triple digit temperatures
and we had had a very dry winter, and the possibility of rain
was not in the forecast.

The crops withered, the grass died, and the fruit trees did
not produce.

Yet, this year God has blessed our land and given us the
measure of rain needed to replenish our fields and yards
and water tanks.

You can see the results all around us....
Fields green with promise, trees full of small beginnings of
fruits and nuts.
Vegetable stands teeming with the rewards of spring and the
promise of a great fall harvest....

I mentioned to my husband my excitement and hope for a
good harvest from my three pecan trees this year.

Wow, immediately God spoke to my heart of His anticipation
of a "Great Harvest" too.....
I like to think he longs for our "Homecoming",
but,  Loving Father that He is He wants not one lamb left behind.

I believe with all my heart that the end of  the age is close at hand,
the signs are all around us.  The earth is trembling with
anticipation...yet most refuse to see....

We should be tidying up our orchards, chafing the wheat from
the tares, making sure our gardens are ready for
the "greatest harvest" of them all...when God sends His
son Jesus to bring His children Home!

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time
we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

Galatians 6:9

Grateful Heart

I have been busy with canning and freezing
the vegetables and fruits of the season.

The harvest of summer gardens is an amazing time.
I love all the fresh food for my table and the thought
that my pantry will be full for the coming winter months
fills me with joy.

Not only does summer bring forth a bounty of goodness
to eat, the flowers and trees teem with their own beauty and smells.

I love the birds and butterfly's, darting about in my yard.
Hummingbirds zooming in for a drink, then off again quick as a wink.

My heart is grateful for another summer and for the goodness
of God's love over my life.

Our God is an Awesome God!

Happy Summer Everyone......

Psalm 132: 15
I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.

Watching and Learning

As I looked out my bedroom window I saw a Dove, a Cardinal, and a Blackbird feeding together underneath a tree where a feeder hangs.

There was no aggression toward one another as they dined on seeds and nuts.

Not one of them made an attempt to lay claim to the area.

They stepped around each other with polite but cautious movements.

They realized in order to munch on the sunflower seeds and fat peanuts they would have to be tolerant of one another.

How easily they understood that some situations call for putting our true nature aside and adapt to our surroundings in order to get the job done.

This same thing can happen with us when we decide to except Jesus into our heart.

We trust Him and he shows us how we can adapt and change and lay down our old sin nature and become new creatures through Him.

His love teaches us how to live in harmony with those of different
cultures, backgrounds and beliefs.

We can learn to accept and handle tricky circumstances and people that life sometimes leads into our paths and we can do it peacefully with dignity and grace.

 2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Life isn't always downhill

We found a great bike just right for me at a garage sale.

I have been riding a little each day trying to go a little
further each ride.

Building up for the day when I might be able to ride
further than down the street.

Although it is true like the old saying goes, once you
learn to ride a bike you never forget how.

Unfortunately it's just not as easy now.

The first challenge I set for myself was to just make it
around our big block, which is about one mile.

I was hesitant because this block has different grades
to it, and I wasn't at all sure I could make it.

As I set off, most of the road was easy and downhill, wheeeee, I
couldn't help but think of the commercial where the little pig
is riding a skateboard downhill "pure adrenaline" wheeeeeeeee.

Wow, then the road changed and I found myself struggling to
keep the wheels rolling. I had to stop get off and push the bike.

Not only were my legs hurting my pride was stinging as well.

As I walked along God started speaking to my heart.
Life isn't always downhill!

Sometimes we face challenges that we aren't prepared
for or capable of taking on.

We have to ready ourselves and equip ourselves in order to be
over comers and have victory over our obstacles.

As my physical body wasn't prepared for the ride, so many times
I am not prepared for the spiritual battles I come up against.

Just like a physical routine to keep our bodies in shape we
must have a routine to keep our Spiritual lives in shape also.

Praise and worship, reading the Word, praying daily, should
all be a part of our daily exercises and routines.

Ephesians 6:10-11
King James Version (KJV)
10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Signs of Spring

All around me I am reminded that things are about to change.
The world will once again experience the arrival of Spring.

I love all that Springtime offers, new buds on the trees bursting
forth. Mild weather and sunshine.

New babies laying in the pastures, with their mama's nearby.
Chirping songbirds preparing nests in lofty trees.
Crocus and tulips pushing thru the earth bursting with
color and scent.

As I sit here today pondering the coming seasons of 2012 I can't
help but wonder what changes this "old" world might be headed for
and will we all be prepared to face them.

As I opened my Bible this morning I felt instant familiarity and knew
that somethings remain the same and never change.

GOD's Holy Word, forever true, unchanging, ready to guide, comfort and provide instruction for every season of our life.
Even age only increases the wonder and beauty!

So, Welcome Spring and all you bring, I am prepared for your arrival......

Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things..." 2 Timothy 4:2-5

Searching for Winter

It is hard to believe that it is the first of February, it feels like early Spring.

The trees are bare and the skies are overcast and gray,
but the temperature reads seventy-six on our thermometer outside.

I like winter days and enjoy a cozy fire and movies or
reading with a pot of stew bubbling on the stove.

I continue to wait for Winter to show it's icy head and
blow in cooler air and possibly a little snow.
But, I wonder if that is to be this season.

I see changes in the patterns of the seasons and
I do believe that this world as we have always known it is changing.

Such a beautiful world GOD created for His children and
it saddens me to see it slowly losing it's wonder and beauty.

I am thankful for the assurance I feel in my Spirit that whatever does transpire in this changing world that I have a Hope and a Promise.

I only need to continue in my faith and stand strong on my beliefs, because God's Word assures me I need not worry.

He knows exactly where Winter is and when it will come again!

Acts 1:7
He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.

Winter Haiku's

Winters bare branches
Lying dormant
Spring beauty hidden inside

Dark blue thunder roars
Silver splits the sky
Life giving water falls

Wind whispers and stirs
Fallen leaves dance
To the rhythm of the seasons
